Engine Oil
-
Common practice is to replace engine oil after a certain number of miles or hours driven
-
Oil is known to “go bad” after the suggested miles have been traveled
-
When filtered properly, engine oil life can be extended greatly
What causes engine oil to go bad?
Water, Oxygen, Temperature Fluctuations
-
Every time an engine turns over they produce internal heat. When they are turned off, they cool down. This process creates condensation (water) on the inside of the block. Engine oil contains additive packs which include sulfur. When mixed with water, it creates sulfuric acid, which breaks down engine oil.
-
Proper filtration pulls water and acidic elements from the engine oil. As a direct result, engine oil doesn’t break down or “go bad”.
